U19s lose to South Africa in their second World Cup match


Canada U19s lost their second match of the U19 World Cup by 150 runs to  South Africa in Potchefstroom today. 

South Africa batted first and put up a big total of 349/8 from their 50 overs, led by 121 from Bryce Parsons. Akhil Kumar (pictured) took 4/56 and Joshi and Verma each took two wickets. Canada got off to a quick start in reply, the 50 coming up in the 7th over for the loss of Sandhu. The run rate slowed with the loss of Patel (26, with five fours), and Kumar (17), with Canada at 71/3 in the 13th over. Benjamin Calitz made an accomplished  half century putting on 51 with Walia (27), but when Wallia was dismissed, the next five wickets fell for the addition of only  44 runs - 166/9. Gosol and Calitz put up a spirited fight with a last wicket partnership of 35 but Canada were bowled out for 199 in the 42nd over. Calitz was left unbeaten on 63.
