U19s put up strong performance in loss to West Indies in warm-up match


Canada U19s played West Indies in a warm-up match today at Soweto, South Africa. Canada won the toss and  batted. They put up an excellent total of 271/9 from 50 overs. Akhil Kumar (pictured above batting against USA last summer) top-scored with 59, opener Randhir Sandhu made 32, striking seven fours in his 35 ball innings, Benjamin Calitz made 38, and Ayush Verma contributed 42*.

Rishiiv Joshi took a wicket in the first over, and West Indies at one point had five wickets down for just 89. However Morris (102*) and Young (70) put on 123 for the 6th wicket, and West Indies won with 3 overs to spare. Joshi took 4/23, and Canada used nine bowlers in total in order to assist in preparation for the upcoming tournament,
