Minor League Cricket to partner with Cricket Canada and Boundaries North to Identify Ownership Groups in key Canadian Markets
Minor League Cricket (MiLC), North America’s most prominent developmental cricket league, confirmed today plans for future Canadian expansion. Minor League Cricket will partner withCricket Canada and Boundaries Northto identify potential ownership groups and communities to establish Minor League Cricket teams across Canada in future seasons.
MiLC’s expansion north of the border will provide more opportunities for elite-level Canadian cricketers to showcase their skills and enhance the competitive landscape across North America. The planned expansion will also help to develop new opportunities across the Canadian cricket ecosystem and drive investment towards critically needed infrastructure and facilities.
Minor League Cricket is a semi-professional T20 developmental cricket league with 26 teams across the United States. Entering its third season of play this August, Minor League Cricket serves as a pathway for aspiring cricketers, providing them with a platform to play at a high level and progress to elite levels of competition.
The fast-growing league is supported by Major League Cricket and follows the franchise-based model, with teams representing various cities across the United States including New York, Seattle, Atlanta and Chicago. Dozens of cricketers who have participated in Minor League Cricket will take part in next month’s inaugural Major League Cricket championship, playing alongside many of the world’s top players.

Launched earlier this year, Boundaries North is a new initiative working with Cricket Canada and all Canadian industry stakeholders to establish a healthy and economically prosperous sporting ecosystem for cricket across the country. Boundaries North will take the lead role in identifying Canadian ownership groups.
