Cricket Canada Prevails in GT20 Arbitration Against Bombay Sports Co. Ltd.
Cricket Canada announces the successful conclusion of the arbitration initiated by Bombay Sports Co. Ltd. under the 2019 Licence Agreement for GT20 Canada. On 29 July 2026, the Arbitrator dismissed Bombay Sports’ claim in its entirety and upheld Cricket Canada’s Counterclaim.
The Award requires Bombay Sports to:
• Pay Cricket Canada USD 392,323.62, plus interest; and
• Return all GT20 Canada intellectual property and related materials within 14 days.
This dispute originated under the previous administration. Since its election, the current Board has implemented significant governance and operational reforms, including the appointment of a new legal team operating at a fraction of the cost incurred by the prior Board. These reforms have strengthened Cricket Canada’s compliance posture and contributed to the efficient resolution of
legacy legal matters.
“Cricket Canada is on a successful path toward resolving all pending legal issues,” said Bhavjit Jauhar, Chief Operating Officer of Cricket Canada. “The current Board is fully focused on mitigating and resolving all outstanding litigation, strengthening governance, and restoring stability across the organization. This arbitration outcome reflects the progress we are making and our commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsible management.”
“This decision reinforces the Board’s commitment to rebuilding Cricket Canada on a foundation of integrity and strong governance,” said Arvinder Khosa, President of Cricket Canada. “We are systematically addressing every inherited legal matter to ensure the organization is positioned for long term stability and growth. Today’s outcome is another important step forward for Canadian cricket.”
Cricket Canada will now initiate the necessary steps to recover the awarded amount and ensure the full return of GT20 Canada intellectual property.
This outcome marks another milestone in Cricket Canada’s ongoing reinstatement process with the International Cricket Council (ICC) and reinforces the organization’s commitment to modernized governance and the long-term development of cricket in Canada.
