A valiant effort by Canada against USA.

Team Canada suffered its first loss yesterday in the ongoing ICC WT20 SR qualifiers in Raleigh, North Carolina. But it was not a one-sided affair rather a thriller in which the team showed an amazing fighting spirit. USA won the match by 2 wickets with just 1 ball to spare and literally snatched the game from Canada’s hands. They managed to chase the target despite some brilliant batting and bowling performances. Canada team was on top most of the game in almost every department, only for the heroics of Steven Taylor, who batted through and made 96 with scoring 22 runs in the ultimate over to seal the game for USA.

Winning the toss, the men in red decided to bat first. They piled up a commendable total of 173 runs. Nikhil Dutta and Hamza Tariq were the highest scorers for the team scoring 31 runs each.

Defending the score 174, the Canadian started well. Bowlers chipped in at regular intervals to take wickets. They didn’t allow any partnership in the American contingent to flourish.

Speaking about the heartbreaking loss Nikhil Dutta said, “We played good cricket today. It is tough when the results are not on your side after some excellent performances. Taylor single handedly took the game away from us.”

Canada is now at the second spot in the table because of a very thin margin with the Net Run Rate (NRR). They will look to grab the top spot in their last match against Panama.
